Learning Differences

Overview

At LTLS, we strive to adjust content delivery to meet the needs of each of our students. During our onboarding process and continuing staff trainings, we focus on best practices for tutoring students with a variety of diagnoses and learning styles as well as the complexities of school. By guiding students to distinguish how they learn best, we build confidence toward better understanding and accepting their strengths and weaknesses. Tutors and students discuss the IEP, 504, or learning plan in an effort to become better self-advocates as they mature.

When desired, we can attend scheduled IEP, SIT, staffings, and other proactive meetings with parents, teachers, and school staff. This allows all members of the student’s academic life to collaborate on identifying needs and plan continued communication. Our attendance serves as an additional perspective on the student’s learning needs as well as providing support to the student and family.
